Big Picture Farm.
So, I have been waiting for Lucas to say something elegant on our farm blog about the fact that Big Picture Farm (with the help of Brattleboro Savings and Loan and a USDA/FSA guarantee…)bought the Farm last Thursday. But, Im in town boiling caramel and he’s at home tending farm and working on some design, and I just can’t contain my excitement any longer! After first moving to Peaked Mountain Farm two years ago in exchange for our labor and care-taking duties - Lucas milked their sheep & made their cheese - and gradually this spring moving into the perhaps more grown-up relationship of actually paying rent as our own goat/caramel duties overtook everything (we have 7 people on & off of our own on payroll at this point) it is truly unbelievable to me that the farm is now ours to live on forever and ever. While we had bought half of Peaked Mountain’s acreage last fall and hoped to build; starting a dairy from scratch is a daunting financial prospect. So when Ann & Bob offered to sell the other side of the farm and retire their sheep dairy, we jumped at the chance. We feel ridiculously lucky. Stay tuned & come visit!
